WEll I determined that the resistor, being just part of a noise cancelling circuit, can be removed and the device will power on. The cause of the burned up resistor though, is a blown IC in the amplifier board of the device... A guy there even drew a diagram of the switching power supply on a bottom view of the PCB for everyone to check out... Just noticed a little interesting bit of information, the psb from the rt2870 is labled rt2770, another model of system, perhaps this may be of some help. I looked all over the amber power supply board but couldn't seem to find one with that designation... Classy little unit that puts out a great sound. The hardest part of the whole set-up was the placement of the speakers for the best coverage. I couldn't believe the fullness it pumps out. Bought one and had to return due to a high pitched buzz/humming through all of the speakers every time the DVD drive spun up. Took a chance on a straight swap and the second one behaved itself and performs at least as well or better than a unit priced at that amount should. Easy set up, good instructions, works as advertised. I've never set up a system like this before, so I wasn't sure what to expect, but the instructions were clear and easy to follow.
